Hey Ladies!! Meet Roopshee Burman!!! Another fantastic WINGS-Woman!! Roopshee born and raised in India migrated to the USA in 2000. In July 2013, she started a non-profit in California to empower women and children through education and training. She works specially with those who have been through domestic violence. The core fundamental of the organization is leading a peaceful life - a life without violence. Since her primary focus is to end violence before it begins, her strategy includes working with children as they are an integral part of the future. She believes if children are made to realize the value of peaceful existence, they will make choices aligned with the same. With a workable plan, a desire in her heart and global statistics on violence against women, she made up her mind to give shape and form to her dream – HOPE IN LIFE FOUNDATION. She started her career in Marketing, switched to Logistics and finally rested in the IT world after her MBA. She loves her daytime IT job because of the challenges it offers but she also fearlessly pursues her passion to empower women and children. On the one hand she has strong technical and business qualifications with an impressive track record of hands-on experience in project management, new systems and programs implementation, problems resolution and operations management. On the other hand she enjoys theater, music, gardening, public speaking and spiritual discussions. In her spare time she volunteers with organizations in India and in the USA that work on gender equality and women empowerment. In her own words It was a moment of pride when the Hope in Life Foundation Team was picked by United Religions Initiative to form a Cooperation Circle with seven members from at least three different faiths. URI is ‘a global grassroots interfaith network that cultivates peace and justice by engaging people to bridge the gulf of religious and cultural differences and work together for the good of the communities and the world. Our area of focus would be studying and deliberating on the socio-economic condition of women from different regions and religious backgrounds and their equation with domestic violence. Our members from different parts of the globe shall be the ambassadors of love and peace in their respective communities. All members are supporters of the California based organization- Hope in Life Foundation. We shall stay connected through Google Hangouts and make all efforts to heighten awareness in the real and virtual communities about how to tackle the menace of violence against women especially in a domestic partnership. With an intent to bring peace and love into homes and thereby into our communities and the world around, we at Hope in Life Foundation are excited at the prospect of contributing our bit towards a peaceful society. Roopshee was invited as a an honorable Speaker at the CELEBRATING WOMANHOOD GALA EVENT 2014 co-hosted by WINGS in the month of March. She has a fiery passion to make a difference, and her choices bear witness to that. She is constantly inspired by the range of women she encounters in her day to day role and we are excited to see how her dream organization unfold in the years to come.... Roopshee is one of the most unforgettable and inspirational people I know. Most of all, she has a heart of gold- she truly cares about the work she does. Not to mention, always looks absolutely fabulous too! WINGS very much looks forward to working with her in the future....
