Hey, Minnesota friends! I hear youre getting some snow today. I know some of you love it, and some of you hate it. While I dont miss the long winters, heres what I do miss about living in your beautiful state: I miss coffee at 10am on a cold Saturday morning, my journal in front of me and no where to be and nothing to do. I miss the slow pace of winter life, the forgiveness for not being out and about. I miss the constant coziness, big socks, fleece blankets, warm fires. I miss the absolute silence in the woods while out snow shoeing or cross country skiing, the feeling of being completely alone in a world of white. I miss the depth of winter, and the permission to slow way down and go inside for a long while. I miss the color of an early winter sunset filtered through icicles hanging from the eaves. Here in warmer climates, we dont really slow down in winter. We keep trucking along at our normal pace. I miss winter in Minnesota for the relief it brought to my busy life. Enjoy it for me, hear? Its the season of meditation.
