Hey SFV baby boomers! Now that we are firmly entrenched into the holiday music season, I thought I would share with you a cool and kooky SoCal Christmas song I wrote in the summer of 1988 and recorded in the fall of that year. Its called CHRISTMAS IN MALIBU and I formed a fictional band (like THE MONKEES were) for the record called THE RAD DUDES. Without a record label or any budget to promote the song, I managed to get the track world-premiered on L.A.s biggest top-40 radio station, KIIS-FM, and then dozens of other major stations in L.A.....and all around the country.....started playing it! I shot a wacky, low-budget music video for the song on Malibu beach in a single day in November of 1988 and managed to get the video played on MTV, VH-1 and several other national music video shows of that time. Some of you vals may even remember the song from hearing it on L.A. radio stations or seeing it on TV....26 years ago! Christmas In Malibu got played a lot again for the next couple of years and then just faded into the sunset, only to be reborn on the internet during the holidays back in 2006, after I first posted the video on YouTube that year. Heres a link to the video! Now, whos that crazy dude playing Santa with the white felt beard? Surfs up, dudes! HO! HO! HO! youtube/watch?v=8FxqUVOxzLA
