Hey Tigers! As you all know, this upcoming week is Lakewoods first - TopicsExpress

Hey Tigers! As you all know, this upcoming week is Lakewoods first annual Roar Week to celebrate last years creation of the One World One Roar Foundation. Liam Rump is a seven-year-old boy with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (better known as FOP or Stonemans Disease) who we are choosing to sponsor this week. FOP is a debilitating genetic disorder with about 800 cases worldwide, where ones muscles and ligaments calcify into bone as patients mature. Hopefully we can use our Tiger pride to help Liams family and fund the FOP Associations research. To accomplish this, us Student Senators have planned a number of fun events for you guys to participate in - many of which will aid us in fundraising. Firstly, we have a spirit week set up: Monday: Ugly Sweater Day (winter is Liams favorite season) Tuesday: Futball Day (Soccer/American Football are Liams favorite sports) Wednesday: Superhero Day (because The Incredibles is Liams favorite movie) Thursday: LHS Spirit Day (whats a spirit week without orange and black?) Friday: Colors Day (for the assembly) - Freshmen: Green - Sophomores: Purple - Juniors: Pink - Seniors: Yellow - Teachers: White Throughout the week Student Senators will be coming to your homerooms during Tiger Time to collect money for Mr. Seelbachs Beard or No Beard competition. Whichever side raises more money will determine the ultimate fate of Mr. Seelbachs facial hair (and Mrs. Seelbachs sanity), so make sure to bring a few dollars to Tiger Time! On Tuesday 11/18, we will have Jamba Juice coming to the atrium with a percentage of the proceeds going to the FOPA. We will also be having our ever-popular Staff Vs. Student Dodgeball Tournament in the large gym at 3:30, so make sure to sign up on the LHS homepage if you are interested in participating!! Also, come by and watch if you have time; it will be loads of fun! On Wednesday 11/19, we will have a class vs. class musical chairs competition in the atrium during both lunches! There will be a minimum donation to play, but the winner gets ultimate bragging rights! On Thursday 11/20, we will be playing horrendous music through the intercom during passing periods for our Make-It-Stop fundraiser! As soon as we collect $500 in the main office collection boxes, we will finally stop the madness! FCCU will be having a bake sale in the atrium as well. Also, Thursday night will be donation night at Live Basil Pizza in Belmar! If you get dinner at Live Basil Pizza and wear your letterman jacket or say you go to Lakewood 10% of the cost of your meal will go towards Roar Week! On Friday 11/21, we will have an assembly at 9:10 that will run through Tiger Time and part of 2nd block! Depending on how Liam is feeling he might make a guest appearance at the assembly for us to meet! We will also be breaking the Guinness World Record for most people whistling in unison at this assembly, so sharpen your skills and be ready to sign up when Student Senators come by your homeroom sometime this week! The results of Mr. Seelbachs Beard or No Beard will also be revealed here. Bring a few more dollars too as we will be doing a Minute Madness fundraiser to see how much money we can raise as Tigers in a single minute!! Like Live Basil on Thursday, Friday will be a Lakewood donation night at the Chick Fil-A in Denver West, so swing by for 10% of your meal to go towards the One World One Roar fund! I know that was a lot of information guys, but we have a very fun-filled action-packed Roar Week ahead of us! I look forward to seeing what kind of success we can get for Liam, and thank you guys so much for your support! Hope to see you at all of the events, and have a great Roar Week!!
