Hey Zane I need some advice Im gonna get straight to it I have a daughter who is 10 the only child on weekdays I have her and weekends shes with her dad this has worked out for the past 5 years previously her dad had problems with being in and out of jail for dwi he has finally gotten his act together got a good job at a oil company long story short he usually gets her on Friday nights and she comes home Sunday well this particular weekend he asked could i watch her Friday so he could go out he I agreed he picked her up promptly on Saturday no issues I went to work while at work I had a text from his phone saying mom please come get me Im scared I raced over there knocked on the door she answered and said her dad had been drinking since they got to his house he was knocked out across the couch she told me he told her to come here she came and he said you know what I was thinking She said what he said thinking bout raping you and he fell over and went to sleep after that she then ran in the bathroom and text me I wanted to kill him I told him he would never see her again he was so drunk he didnt realize what was going on its been a week I havent taken any of his calls question is should I have called the police ?? I decided not to because she wasnt physically touched I dont want her dealing with all that especially involving her own dad smh she will never be alone with him again ever!!!!! MY RESPONSE: This is extremely serious and you need to report it to the police for two major reasons: one, so that your daughter will know that you placed her welfare before everything else and two, so that there will be a paper trail. It sounds like the two of you came to this custody arrangement yourselves and while you can easily say that she will never be alone with him again, you need to file for full legal and physical custody and cite the reasons before he beats you to the punch. Furthermore, you need to file for an order of protection so that he can be arrested if he comes within a certain distance of her. This cannot be taken lightly because men do rape their own children, especially when they are under the influence of something. Please let me know what you decide to do but I hope you do something and now.
