Hey all, I know there has been some speculation on how to determine a reasonable CR rating when a party has more than the four recommended characters that the books base the CR ratings off of. I know that I have heard that someone thinks that a party of 6 has a CR of 6 even if the entire party is at level 2. This is not how this works! CR rating is based off of character levels first, and then the amount of characters in the party. The formula is not linear at all, but more closely resembles a square root function. I thought about sharing the formula, but I then I figured I could do one better, so I wrote a program that will determine the CR for you. As far as I know, this only works for parties with four or more characters. I have not tested this for three or fewer. It is a .exe executable file that runs on a computer.
