Hey all....... Today I power washed my huge area rug. I laid it on the driveway and went nuts. I used watered down Dawn dish washing liquid and then rinsed it really good. Pulled out the steam cleaner and sucked up all the excess water. And man, there was a lot. Cleaned out the power washer and then hit it again with white vinegar. Vinegar is an odor neutralizer. Potty training fosters here so I get accidents. ;o) Sucked it all up again and left it in the neighbors driveway to air/sun dry with pile to the driveway. It dried out pretty good. Dragged it in and steam cleaned the pile once more for good measure. The house smells like a tossed salad but when dry, the vinegar smell will be gone forever. I did this once before when I fostered cats and had a couple with bladder infections. Any way, before you toss your rugs out, give it a try. I guarantee you will be pleased!!
