Hey everybody. So several years ago I asked my grandmother to write down some things about her daily life when she was younger. At the time she wrote this she was 88; she’s 98 now. I wanted for her to write a lot more but as most things they get brushed to the side and before long they are forgotten. Unfortunately now her memory isn’t good at all and her recollection on the past comes and goes. I wish I could remember more of the stories she told me when I was younger. Like how they made their own soap and the first time she saw an airplane and the sweet love story she would always tell about her husband. “He said he loved me from the first time he seen me” she would say. (Whom I never got to meet but from all I’ve heard about him over the years I think we would have gotten along fine.) She spoke of sad times though too … the passing of a friend or the poverty that burdened so many in her younger days. “We were poor but there was a lot worser off than us” she’d say. Anyway I thought some of you might enjoy reading this I know I have. And if you’re curious she is talking about in and around Gainesboro, Jackson County Tennessee.
