Hey everyone! I have a quick review of Foodsmiths in Perth, probably a little less than an hour outside of Ottawa. Foodsmiths is a natural, local and organic food store, and we were pleasantly surprised to find many vegan specialty items, and in Perth of all places! I have attached pictures of our haul. Michael got some currants which were amazing in a salad. They had a wide variety of produce there. We also had Gardein black bean burgers which Id argue are better than their other veggie burger product. We found vegan jelly beans, Michaels weird Wildbrine kimchi, lots of Field Roast sausages, a vegan curry sauce (with coconut milk, Patak brand) and even vegan halva, from Krinos. Note that the Beaus pictured was bought from the liquor store, not Foodsmiths, haha. They also had some different hummus brands, Earth Balance popcorn, lots of fake meat, and an expansive cosmetics and hygiene section. On our second trip, on the way back into Ottawa (my family cottage is in Perth), we also bought some delicious plums, as well as a Tofurkey roast beef deli product that Id never tried before. Turns out its delicious! The Vegan Cesar paste I havent tried yet, but I have very high hopes for making a cesar salad with it in the near future. Ive never seen that brand here in Ottawa. Lastly, the customer service was amazing. Friendly staff, helped us a lot as we clearly didnt know our way around the store, and mentioned some people drive in from Ottawa regularly to shop there. If you feel like a nice drive, or are passing through, definitely check them out!
