Hey everyone! Just wanted to let everyone know that theres a bug going around, well a virus. It called Hands, Foot, Mouth Disease and is very contagious and mainly affects kids 5 and under. Our little guy David has it. So far he is doing great and is acting totally normal! Just wanted to give you all the heads up that our doctor said its going around like crazy! Dont worry church friends, he did NOT get it from church. Nor was he at church last sunday! The only place he was at this last week was our gyms kids club. But I want to add that our gym is VERY clean!!! This is a virus just like a cold or flu, which means its also airborne and of course with contact. Signs to look for would be blister like bumps on the palms of hands and soles of feet and also sores in the mouth. The rash generally not harmful or itchy in most cases. The main part that could be serious is the pain from the sores in their mouth. Kids dont want to eat or drink so can become dehydrated. And once you find the bumps, that means they were contagious 1-3 days before you saw the symptoms pop out. And the blisters can con on suddenly, as what happened to David. I was getting him in and out of his stroller all day and randomly noticed he had bumps on his hands. Although the blisters are usually in the three areas, they can be all throughout the body. I talked with his doctor and he said that kids are contagious until all blisters are scabbed over and gone. So looks like were in quarantine! Also fever can be accompanied by this too. As parents, we hate to miss certain events or parties, but if our kids are sick, please keep them home. David is very blessed to be being doing great and not being affected at all! He is eating great and acting like his normal self! I keep forgetting he has this! I was planning my day out and realized we cant go around anyone! As far as Darlene, it kinda looks like she might have a couple on her hands, so Im watching her! Ive included an attachment so you can further read about this!
