Big Memory Machines: Enabling Oracle’s Large Scale Coherent Systems Consider your options at: oracle/college Join Dave Smentek from the SPARC Processors Management Team. Dave Smentek, BSEE `91 Dave will give a brief overview of Oracle’s latest server processor, the SPARC M6, the latest in a line of high performance multi-threaded, multi-core SPARC processors. He will then talk in detail about Bixby, the scalability and coherence directory ASIC that enables the largest coherent Oracle server products. Bixby enables scaling of M6 systems up to 96 processors in a single coherent domain. The talk will focus on the design challenges of providing high performance as well as enterprise level RAS (Reliability, Availablity and Serviceability) in large coherent systems. Dave is a Senior Hardware Architect at Oracle in Santa Clara, CA, where he works on development of microprocessors for Oracle’s server products.
