Hey everyone hope you can come ill be singing a song with my Mom! :) LOCAL POET & SINGER/SONGWRITER TO PERFORM AT RHYME, RHYTHM & REASON POETRY SERIES On Sunday, November 24, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., local poet and musician, Eileen D’Angelo, will perform songs with her 12 string guitar and original poetry, at The Regency Café is located at 29 N. Lansdowne Ave., Lansdowne, PA 19050 (next to the Lansdowne Theatre), and the series is hosted by local poet, Camelia Nocella. An open reading will follow. A two time finalist in the Allen Ginsberg Awards given by Paterson Literary Review, Eileen D’Angelo’s poetry and book reviews have been published in Rattle, Voices International, Wild River Review, Manhattan Poetry Review, Drexel Online Journal, The Daily Local, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Hinge Online, Philadelphia Poets, Bookends, Philadelphia Stories, Lilipoh, Bitterroot, Midwest Poetry Review, Odessa, New Hope International in the United Kingdom, and others. She has been nominated for a Pennsylvania Governor’s Award in the Arts, two Pushcart Prizes for Best of the Small Press, from Schuylkill Valley Journal and Verse Magazine, and was a judge for the Philadelphia area open auditions for HBO’s pilot/series, Def Poetry Jam, and the Four State Poetry Slam, sponsored by Minority Business Focus, at New Market Cabaret in Philadelphia. She has performed at St. Joes, Rutgers Camden, Kelly Writers House, the Philly Fringe Festival, and Phillys 215 Festival, Hedgerow Theatre, Main Street Theatre, Manayunk Art Center, and the Welcome America 4th of July celebration on the Ben Franklin Parkway, to name a few. Her performances have been broadcast on World Café Live on WXPN/88.1, at Philadelphia’s Painted Bride Quarterly event, on “Skin Radio” WHAT /1340 a.m., on BCTV’s Poets Pause, a television arts program in Berks County and Western Pennsylvania; and on Café Improv, an public arts program broadcast live in Princeton, NJ. She was interviewed by J.F. Pirro for Main Line Today magazine, as well as Kenn Michael for WBIY (88.1 FM) for the Lehigh Valley and by Dee Patel of KYW-1060 News Radio in Philadelphia, regarding the craft of poetry and the poetry scene in Philadelphia and abroad. As editor of the Mad Poets Review and Director of the Mad Poets Society since 1987, she has coordinated over a thousand special events, for poets and students, throughout the Delaware Valley, including poetry readings, series, competitions, workshops and multi-media events. She received a Victim Rights Award from the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office and Domestic Abuse Project for volunteer work through her fundraising organization, Arts Against Abuse, and has been criminal defense attorney, G. Guy Smith’s, paralegal for close to 30 years. She is the co-founder and current president of the Delaware County Paralegal Association and current president of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Writers Conference. An open mike will follow. The event is open to the public. Each month, this series offers a featured performer or two, followed by an open mike and an opportunity for all to share poems or music!
