Hey everyone, it’s Jacob and I’m back with review number 8! This time I’m doing a review on a game from the cult classic world of Warhammer 40K, the game, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine. When come to games of the cult classic, I’ve played almost everything from the original table top game to it’s computer and video game console counter parts. I’m even giddily waiting for the latest space hulk game to come to the game console. With that all out of the at out of the way and my long standing relationship with Warhammer 40K games on the table, I think it’s time for the review. Now I just want to say for the record I loved what I first saw and heard about Space Marine, however I as lest then thrilled with what the actual game turned out to be. When I first heard about the game it was suppose to be huge and massive just as the world it was show casing is, I was happier then time I discovered Warhammer 40K. But instead the end results was just a bare bones game. Luckily not all of it was bad though. The campaign while fun to play, the graphic good, the voice acting spot on and the music really pulled you in, but the over all story lacked something and was left way to open at the end. I will give the story credit on one thing though. It was hard to predict how it would all pan out at till the very end. The campaign was also very linear closed in, yet didn’t really lack in detail and had everything you expect to see in the world of Warhammer 40k, where it got bare is the multiplayer. While multiplayer did have a interesting space marine customization that was easy to use there wasn’t much in terms of game modes and maps and this is with the down loadable content. It seemed that they had poured more effort into the maps (which are small), customizing your marine and the core game play then in making the more diversity of maps and game modes. This is the second game that I’ve played in the modern gaming age that has had this issue (Front Mission evolved being the other), but with what the multiplayer does have is awesome. The multiplayer maps easy to navigate and get you to where you need to go quickly. This helps keep the action constant with a few brief breaks in it. All and all it’s a pretty solid experience with what it does have, but to the game could had a whole lot more content to play. Over all I’d give Warhammer 40k: Space Marine a solid 7/10 and would make any Warhammer 40k fan happy.
