Hey everypony! /) For those of you who dont know me, Im Buster. Around here, I go by Silver Eagle, and I serve as the network director for the Ponyville Live network. Ive met many of you from our networks coverage of the last two Brony Fan Fairs, but if theres any of you who I havent met yet, then hello! I just moved into the Austin area a few weeks ago, and it saddens me to see Brony Fan Fair go. Its the end of an era, as BFF was not just my first convention, but also Texas first Brony convention. It has a big spot in our local history, and I know well remember it fondly. Personally, despite having been in the fandom for several years now, I still feel passionate about the subject matter and the community. In the more conservative cities I come from, the brony meetups are often the only place people can go where they can safely be themselves around other people without feeling like it will come back to haunt them. Even in notoriously weird Austin, though, were still a group distinct from any other, and I want to see that group strengthen its social bonds and get to know each other better. The more we can build our friendships, the better it is for everyones well-being. In light of the BFF announcement, Ive tossed around the idea of starting a two-day-long event in the Austin area that would help fill the void that it left. I dont think a full-size convention is really practical any more, but theres no reason we cant go back to the roots of BFF, and make it entirely fan-driven. Bring in the personalities from the fandom, especially the musicians, DJs, artists, podcasters and other creative people that keep it alive even in hiatus season, and have an event thats unlike any other in the state. In my position with PVL, I work with lots of these types of creative people, and my friends from some of the communitys largest conventions are ready and willing to pitch in their expertise to help make it a success as well. Before I do anything, though, I want to see how everyone out in the community feels. Nightmare Nights Dallas is coming up, and its shaping up to be the largest convention in the states history (and everyone should go!), but Im confident we could have an event of our own thats completely unique and doesnt step on the toes of our friends in Dallas or Houston. I wouldnt dare plan an event without the support of the citys community itself, though, so thats why I wanted to come to you all first and see what you think. Let me know your honest feedback. It means a lot to me. If you dont feel comfortable commenting here, feel free to send me a message. Thanks everypony. /)
