Hey fellow tort lovers. I have a 4-5 year old male Redfoot who I would like to rehome to someone better equipped to care for him. I have debating over this for a couple years now and have tried to rehome him before but have not been able to find anyone that I felt good about giving him to. I personally have many years of tortoise experience and am pretty knowledgeable about reptiles and amphibians in general but I dont feel as though I am able to give him the proper home. I want him to have the type of life my Desert Tort has and unfortunately this desert environment is not great for the Redfoots. They do not hibernate during winter and they require high humidity. Due to our climate here he ends up having to live a good portion of the year indoors and unfortunately I just moved into a rather small space. He currently has a 4 x 4 enclosure for inside but as he grows larger this will not suffice. Therefore I am looking for someone who either lives in a slightly better location or someone who can devote a large indoor area for him. On top of that I will only give him to someone who has several years of experience with his species in particular. I know I am asking a lot and am being very picky but I will not just give him to anyone. He does has some pyramiding which had started when I got him. (I adopted him from someone who couldnt get it under control) His shell growth definitely has improved but it still is not as smooth as I want it to be and I suspect it is a humidity issue. Otherwise he is a great eater and very active. So as I now finally get to the end of my long post (my apologies) If you have proven successful experience keeping these torts or possible know someone who does and are interested in adopting him, please get in contact with me. There is no deadline I want to rehome him by and if I dont find a better situation than he has with me I will keep him still. Thanks for reading!
