Hey folks... so my IMHA pup Pookie was limping after horsing around with his sister yesterday, and I learned this afternoon that hes ruptured his cruciate ligament (like thats what this pup needs after the year hes had). My family vet told me this can be a downstream effect of pred in 2 ways: 1) the ligaments can be weakened directly by the pred and 2) he has gained ~20 lbs since this bout with IMHA, and that also puts extra stress on the ligaments. She put him on tramadol & she suggested that I try to keep him mostly quiet, and try to get 10-15 lbs off him before he has the surgery--otherwise there is a decent likelihood hell blow out the other side because that leg is taking up the slack. I have a handyman coming tomorrow to build a ramp to get down the back steps. Has anyone elses dog had ligament issues during/post pred treatment?
