Hey gang, so I wanted to highlight one of our members who inspired me to push for our Pink Monday, meet Jen Whitesides, a regular at 6am Bootcamp. What many dont know is that 5 years ago Jen was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer, at 36 years of age with 5 kids this was a very challenging time for her and her family. Going through many bouts of chemotherapy, surgeries, and radiation with the support of numerous doctors, friends and family Jen decided to fight for her life. She found strength in other women who had been in her shoes, and showed great courage as she battled back to regain her life as it once was. Now Jen regularly attends our 6am Bootcamp on Mon, Wed, and Fri along with many other races, hikes, etc outside of class to stay active along with eating a steady balanced diet. Her message that she wanted to leave with us all is simply this...Breast Cancer doesnt have to be a death sentence, its more like a bump in the road most times if caught in the early stages. So my ABFF, and all other followers take the time to do your monthly checks, and mammograms, as statistics state as many as 1 out of 8 women deal with breast cancer during their lifetime. Lets be responsible and do our part with early detection and bringing overall awareness to the disease. So lets all show up Monday in pink ready to WORK and REPRESENT!! Oh, and if you run into Jen give her a high five for being a survivor and for sharing her story with us to help others..
