In Europe, we have a term for this kind of adventurous spirit and playful mentality...its called AVAILABILITY, it means that your mind and body are available to engage whatever information they are presented with. This is a very valuable skill to have because you NEVER know what you will be asked to do at an audition...you have to show up and be AVAILABLE. Your homework this week is to watch this video by Mats Ek, the former director of Cullberg Ballet in Sweden. Understand that the dancers are working from sensation...and you are watching with observation. Also, pay attention to the way the dancers use, and then hide, their ballet technique. Its interesting to see how he lets you see their classical training just for a second, and then goes right back to the internal investigation.
