Hey guys! Here are the minutes of the student council meeting on the 25th of October: Agenda: 1. Lockers near Mr. McCombe’s room are too congested. There is a bathroom, a classroom and lockers all close by, making students late for class. Julia Rolim and Anna Falsztyn will talk to Mr. Haygarth 2. Photos and videos of Sports fixtures should be broadcasted in the televisions in the lunch room. Pedro Camargo will talk to Marketing about this. 3. There should be soda available in the Tuck-Shop. No sodas will be available. It is against school rules. 4. Holes are around the school and it might actually be dangerous for example in the court when water drops on the floor it turns very slippery and it is dangerous. Also there is a hole in the tuck-shop area which gets all bags which don’t fit in the lockers wet. Beatrice will look into this. 5. Mr. Walker´s Air-Conditioning is not working. Lucas will be looking into this. Matters Arising: 1. Parents Meeting was too noisy. During the 11-12 meetings, there are too many teachers in one room. Anna will talk to Ms. Makhan about this. 2. The lines in the Tuck-Shop are, once again, too long. More tuck-shop´s should be built in order to decrease the lines. - Feipe Lyrio is looking into this. Information is awaited from Mr. Haygarth. 3. Lunch Menus are misleading, proper menus should be displayed in the bulletin. – The school says this issue will be fixed by this week. Andre is preparing a report to present to Mr. Haygarth. 4. Students would like the tuck-shop to be opened before school – Christopher Hudson will conduct a survey to see what the student body agrees with. 5. Vending machines should be placed around the tuck-shop area in order to decrease lines in the actual tuck-shop. In these vending machines, small snacks should be available such as M&M´s etc. – No vending machines will be available. A proposed solution is creating our own SC Tuck-Shop, which will be organised by Lucas Bender and Gustavo Borges. They will conduct a survey to see what students would like to have. The aim will be to create profit, and to possibly lower the prices at the Tuck-Shop. 6. Lockers should be organised by year groups – yr 7 have bottom lockers, yr 8 middle, yr 9 top (for the small lockers since 10-12 have big ones). This enables for better organisation when using the lockers and establishes a standardised, fair system for all year groups. –According to Mr. Haygarth, a letter will be sent to all tutors this week. 7. Student should have tuck-shop cards, with barcodes, and personal identification, where parents could pay at the beginning of each month, an amount which would be added to this card. Students could then have this balance and would use it throughout the month, and it could be recharged. This gives parents control over the amount spent. This should also be registered in a computer system in case the student loses the card.- This issue will be taken to the Action Committee by André Amaral and Mr B, was also brought up in the Junior SC. 8. Once a month, on Friday, there should be an International Food Day. Pedro will talk to Sodexo. AOB: 9. A project is being organised to broadcast the SC activities, in collaboration with the Junior Student Council. This will occur on Tuesdays, from 15:30 to 16:00. Andre, Christopher Hudson and Thais will take part in this project.
