Hey guys!! If anyone can help me that would be awesome!! I have a dilemma with my 1991 240sx Hatch (original engine ka24de). Something is wrong with the idle. When I approach a red light or a stop sign; ill put the clutch in, put it in neutral, and apply the brakes…and then when I get close to a complete stop it just stalls and shuts off (Yes I can restart it, but it will literally happen at almost every stop, and in order for it to not happen, I have to keep revving it) and (not the user, something is wrong with the engine). I have no idea what it could be? I feel I have tried everything possible; 1) I thought it may be the distributor cap and wires, because I thought it may have gotten wet somehow (but its all brand new, im the second owner, the first owner took very good care of it, and so the distributor cap and wires are only 2-3 years old). 2) Then I thought it might be the battery or the alternator- checked all that out and the alternator is holding the charge, and the battery again is only 2-3 years old. Problem still occurred. 3) I also have one alpine 12 inch sub and an alpine amp in the back hatch. Since I don’t have a capacitor for that stuff I thought the car might not be able to handle the subs and amp- So I took all that out. The problem still occurs. 4) Then with most options exhausted I had my dad look at it (hes been a mechanic for about 25 years). Him and I had setup an extra grounding cable from the negative side of the battery, and grounded it. After that the problem still occurred. WHAT IS WEIRD THOU (this was before we hooked up that extra grounding cable)- is that one day I was driving it and same thing happened, but the battery was completely dead- I couldnt even start the car, and couldn’t even put on my four-ways. My dad came and gave me very thick cables and hooked it all up, and I drove it to college with that whole thing under the hood.. AND it was perfectly fine?! I didn’t have a problem. Obviously I can’t keep jumper cables under my hood all the time. So later that day I went to his shop and we hooked up the extra grounding cable. And it had the same problem. SOO I have no idea what it could be, and if anyone has the time to read this and help me that would be freakin awesome and very much appreciated!!!! Sorry this is so damn long. P.S. My dad thinks I may have to rebuild the top head. And I currently really don’t have the money for that right now.
