Hey guys Sorry Ive been so quiet. To quote John Lennon, life is what happens when youre busy making other plans. Ive had a lot going on in life that needed my full attention and DJing had to be put on hold. That said Im happy to say I hooked up for gear for the first time in months last night and played for a while just for myself and in doing so, reminded myself just how much I missed doing what I do. I promise, theres more to come. Ive also been playing around with new sounds. I know Im known primarily as a Bass DJ, but there are many many many different sounds to play with. When I got into DJing, I was heavily influenced by artists like Ferry Corsten, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, DJ Dan, and of course AM and Z Trip. Believe it or not, some of the first mixes I put out were all house. (Also VERY bad.) While I can promise Ill still be putting out bass, I plan on venturing into the house genre a bit more. Yes, Deep House is very popular right now, and is very trendy. Im not making an attempt to hop on a bandwagon; Im discovering amazing new music that I want to play with. Im sure Ive been very heavily influenced by my years at Burning Man, where Deep House is very prevalent, but I think a lot of it also has to do with expanding my sound and flexing as an artist. Music is a lot like food. Would you want to eat the same kind of food for the rest of your life? I hope not. While my mixes will have a similar flow (Turntables, mashups, scratching, elaborate blends) Ill be stepping out beyond the constraints of bass specific music. I hope you all will still like what Im putting out. Dont worry, Ill still be putting out bass music as well. I will never forgo my roots. There will still be a little bit of time before theres anything new out, but just wanted to say hi to you all, give you all a very genuine thank you for all the support through out the years, and say Tiger Uppercut isnt finished.
