Hey guys so I got nominated to do the ice bucket challenge for ALS - TopicsExpress

Hey guys so I got nominated to do the ice bucket challenge for ALS by Jayne Wyne. I did this because its a fun, silly way to get your attention and raise money for ALS and also because Im really irritated by the negative responses its receiving. A few of the comments Ive seen about it have been things like There are riots in Ferguson and people are dumping ice water over their heads. Yes, what is happening in Ferguson is terrible and people should be aware of it and it needs to be address. There are also a lot of other horrible things happening all over the world that need attention like war, famine, and the Ebola outbreak (while not affecting us in first world nations is still a nightmare to many others). ALS is another unfortunate disease that is affecting thousands of humans. I know it may seem ridiculous that we are doing this challenge to bring awareness about it but sometimes we need something silly to grab peoples attention and honestly just to laugh about for our own emotional well being and there is nothing wrong about that. Another post Ive seen a lot of is the meme of the kid saying youre wasting clean water to avoid raising money for charity?. First off, like you dont already take your privileged life for granted. Many of you take 30 or more minutes in the shower, throw away food because you dont like the way it taste or leave lights/ a tv on 24/7. Unless you really plan on rationing items or reducing your carbon footprint STFU. Secondly this challenge is not to avoid raising money its to help make everyone aware of this certain disease and to hopefully make a contribution. So far because of this stupid challenge the ALS has already raised over $40 million. Doesnt seem that ridiculous now does it. Anyways Ill finish with my rant now but I want to call out a few special people that I am hoping will take the time to contribute to this cause. Those lucky ones are Erica Holliday, Justin Showna and Jeremy Hathaway. I really look forward either seeing your videos, your name as a person that donated or both. Good luck guys I know you can do it :)
