Hey guys, so its that time of year again. Weve started logging all the community service hours in coordination with our constitution and unfortunately about ¾ of of our members havent made it to a single event, or given us a letter. Not completing these mandatory community service hours is listed as a grounds for dismissal and scholarship revocation in our bylaws. I know you guys are busy, but there are only 4 weeks left of classes and at the end of the semester we need to report these hours to the chapter adviser who will then proceed from there. If you dont do them, you could lose all claims to PTK. We only meet twice a month, and this Thursdays meeting will be incredibly important, if you do not attend, Ill be forced to make a note of it. Meetings are all held in Hudson 406 at 12:30. If you are looking for a way to get credit for your mandatory community service, Ive got some ideas that would be really easy to do and could easily fit into anyone’s busy schedule! Cards for Catey is an event that PTK and SGA are working on together, and it involves making some nice “get well/we miss you” cards for Catey Miller, a young woman from DCC who was just diagnosed with Leukemia and is being treated down in the city. If you make 10-15 simple little cards, we will sign off on your 5 hours of community service. Please make them nice, it only takes about 15-20 minutes to make a card and this is for a member of our community, and I know the community service division of SGA made beautiful cards, so lets show them up. The other way you can earn your community service hours is to make a few little holiday ornaments. This is a campus wide competition where the winning club gets a budget increase, so if PTK wins, we can throw a pizza party if you guys would like. If you make 5 ornaments, we will sign off on your 5 mandatory community service hours, and you could win us the pizza party!! The ornaments must be in by November 24th to the student activities office, just ask them to write your name and the date on a sticky note and Ill collect them. Ornaments will be sold at the Winterfest on December 5th to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. You guys know how shameless I am, so if I see you around campus I may pester you about your community service hours, just throw some cards at me to make me stop. Haha! Have a wonderful day guys!
