Hey, its Petra again. another book that will be featured during the Humanality/Horsenality course is Closer, Stay Longer by Dr. Stephanie Burns. This book was a key ingredient for me to regain my confidence after a scary riding accident. And here is one of my favorite parts, when Stef is talking about cantering up the hill at the Parelli Ranch in Colorado: Now, its my turn. I either get off and say No. or go. I went. For the first 200 yards this felt rough and I had a lot of fear response. I never took my eyes off Pats hat even when he took it off to swat at something. I thought this might be why I was staying on. By 300 yards I had already gotten a feel for what Buddy was doing and my body fell into his rhythm. My body figured out where it had to be to feel like I was just rolling with the punches. The hill caused Buddy to lift his energy... But because he was going up hill it felt like slow motion. Already I had gone longer than ever, and it was LONG ENOUGH to feel a change. It is amazing to me how fast this change can happen. As I previously acknowledged, Pat is a masterful teacher. Have you read this book and has it made a change in your life?
