I hope your Monday is going as lovely as a Monday can go. Tomorrow Tuesday, September 23 @ 11:00 am in the Centenary Room is our first NOW meeting! (Plz read this even if you cant come to the meeting xoxo) There WILL be pizza rolls, so PREPARE YOURSELVES. :) However, there will also be lots of other awesome things going on. Well be discussing: - What is NOW? What is it to you? How would you answer the question whats NOW? if asked by a fellow student? What do you hope to get out of being a NOW member? - What events would you like to see NOW do? What event ideas do you have? What issues are really important to you? Are there any campus-specific issues NOW needs to work on? - How can we brand ourselves on campus? How can we get across what NOW is, what NOW does, who can be a part of NOW (ERRYBODY), etc? What kind of publicity do we need to do to get our name out there? - How WONDERFUL our kickoff event was and how ROCKIN it was that DPS showed up of their own volition to show support and solidarity. How to improve similar events in the future. Basically, well be doing all sorts of wonderful brainstorming for this upcoming year and eating pizza rolls. Holla. So. I know what youre thinking. Do I really want to be a part of NOW? Whats in it for me? Is it worth my precious free time? NOW is going to meet every OTHER week, so it will not be an enormous time commitment. Not to mention, you all are all AWESOME so are meeting will be as such, too. :) Since our NOW chapter is in the process of rebuilding, there are many great opportunities for leadership within the chapter. Our NOW chapter also has a lot of support from the Shreveport-Bossier NOW chapter, and they have told me that there are many leadership opportunities within the community leaders can be a part of, and they are also more than willing to sponsor a NOW student to attend political conferences across America. Speeeeeaking of the Shreveport-Bossier chapter, theyre having a party! And were invited! V to Shining V 2014 Theme: She-roes: Celebrating Female Role Models Dress as your favorite She-ro! Hope Medical Group for Women (across the street from Centenary) THIS Saturday, September 27 @ 7:00 pm At the meeting, if yall want, we should definitely decide on a time to work on costumes together!
