Hey remember in 2010 when I said DO NOT GIVE to the HAITI RELIEF funds and not to listen to all the phony celebrities doing Haiti relief concerts? I was vilified as uncaring and labeled and stereotyped a right wing hater. By now Im sure you also remember that you were promised, if you gave to the Haiti relief fund you would be HELPING THE CHILDREN? Guess what.... its now 2014 and the people of Haiti are STILL waiting for all those BILLIONS donated for their benefit. They are still living in the streets, they NEVER got the money. Thats right, all the people who had their kids in high school collecting money and selling cupcakes for Haiti Relief, all the car washes and benefit concerts, all the celebrity grandstanding about giving to the poor people in Haiti by giving your money to THEM.... .... they were ALL lying! Just remember that the next time there is a pop culture craze to help the children or save the planet or feed the hungry or donate to the families of.... I say this a LOT because it bears repeating... DO NOT GIVE to the National or International Red cross, DO NOT GIVE to RELIEF FUNDS... especially when celebrities are doing benefit concerts, etc. If you want to help people who truly need it, find a charity where 100% of the money (or close to it) goes directly to the intended recipients, AND check to find out WHO is in charge of the money .... if there is more than one fund associated with a charity... BAIL OUT, if you cannot find a single individual in charge of the dissemination funds BAIL OUT, if EVERYONE you know is giving.... BAIL OUT! The best advice I can give is that you not give money to ANYONE ... ANY FUND... ANY CHARITY.... unless you have done some REAL homework. Even I get scammed from time to time and I investigate this stuff all the time. If you gave to Haiti relief I hope you feel really silly right now. You were duped by Hollywood and pop culture, the news industry and the political class. But I also hope you take that feeling and do something to avoid the embarrassment in the future.
