Hey there, Im getting my first tarantula, a 3/4 greenbottle blue spiderling in 2-3 weeks, after Ive sufficiently learned about their care. I have a general idea of what Im going to be doing, like making my room a little warmer for it and such. Im looking to buy some really small, vented enclosures. A mature gbb (4.5 or 6 in) needs 5 gallons, but smaller ones are happy in large ventilated pill jars, deli containers, etc. Id be fine with getting ones a little more proper than that like a really small critter keeper, or something like whats offered on tarantulacages. Im also interested in hides, like maybe something for a very small lizard, for these varying enclosures. I think Ive already got two bigger ones, so Im more interested in medium to small to very small. They seem pretty overpriced retail. If anyone has any advice, or something specific to tarantulas (like specific substrate recommended for this dry-loving species) that they want to sell me that I havent mentioned, feel free! Im thinking of getting two, even though that would double the amount of stuff I need, it would feel silly going to drive to buy a few pinheads every week for just one T. If theyre the same species, it isnt much harder to take care of them, right?
