Hey there good folks. =) Busy day at the homestead sanctuary! In addition to harvesting lots of green goodies for the Foothills Farmers Market in the morning, we also had a very colorful experience in the sweet potato patch. Before the rain moved in, we were just barely able to finish digging a late planting of several new varieties. We are super excited about what we found beneath the soil (purple, pinkish-orange, and white sweet taters!) The harvest was better than expected and it looks like we may just have enough to share once they are cured! In the meantime, we are excited to bring an enormous amount of our Beauregards (the yummy sweet potato variety we have grown the past few years) which are now cured and thoroughly taste-tested! Well have plenty over the next month, however, if youd like to place a bulk order (half bushel or whole bushel) you are welcome to do that. Well hold them for you until you are ready. =) On top of all those sweet potatoes, well also have some exciting new salad and saute mixes. Our fall greens (pak choi, red russian kale, chinese cabbage, and senposai) are just starting to mature so we decided to mix them all up this week for a really special saute mix. We also decided to incorporate calendula flower petals and spicy cress (see photo) into some of the mixes. And of course well also feature some wild harvested foods including cinnamon vine tubers and wood sorrel. Malabar spinach will also find its way into the spread. Yum! Well also have plenty of colorful peppers (both sweet and hot, but not at the same time!), lots and lots of basil, egyptian walking onions, an array of useful potted perennial plants, and our herbal tincture formulas.
