Hey, what with the holidays, you might have missed last months Fishlines newsletter! No problem, well get you up to speed. UAF grad student Ellen Chenoweth and her robot friend Little Buddy track whales in Southeast Alaska. Ellen shared the data with high school students during WhaleFest 2014. Last month about 100 participants in Anchorage and 70 at remote sites heard from experts about the potential effects of ocean acidification on Alaska’s marine environment and downstream impacts. Were creating a new Alaska state fellowship program designed to offer soon-to-graduate or recently finished graduate students a professional opportunity with Alaska’s state or federal agencies.
