Hey yall, Just wanted to give my 2 cents as to how this - TopicsExpress

Hey yall, Just wanted to give my 2 cents as to how this activity is important to me, and some advice about auditioning for the first time. First, this activity has taught me how to fail. I love failure. Ask any vet and theyll tell you that Ive failed a great deal over my 3 years here. Ill probably fail some more over the next 3 as well! However, Ive learned more about myself because of these failures than any other thing Ive done in my lifetime. I guess what Im saying is, its really easy to fall into the trap that failure is a bad thing. Our society teaches it all the time, and I used to be a perfectionist and things having to be a certain way. But Ive grown to learn in drum corps that failing and learning define who you are. So, dont be afraid to fail, and approach everything confidently! Second, this activity has taught me about love and compassion. I never imagined that I would truly LOVE 150 perfect strangers by sharing a common goal, but its so true. Were different than your everyday group, and truly care about each other. I could call any one of the people Ive marched with in the last several years and receive a helping hand, or a place to stay for a night if I needed it. If you need 150 great friends, look no further! Third, your work ethic and attitude are more valuable in this activity and life than any talent could get you! Dont get me wrong, talent is a good thing to have, but the corps would rather have a member that works hard and is a great person that a talented person who is troublesome. Just a quick tidbit from me, take it for what its worth. Happy practicing!
