Hi All, It had been six months since I last login to Facebook. I had been very busy with my work while spending some free time to reflect on the events that passed me by, with many wonderful and cherishing memories and as in life, there were always some challenging and unpleasant ones that we can learn from and be wiser from it. My silence does not mean I am out of Zumba, on the contrary, I am very much with Zumba and have noted the vibrancy in the “Zumba Community in Singapore”. There are so many activities and new groups are sprouting out, let alone we have two Zumba Jammers! Congratulations to Gerald and Gina. We, as in Local Focal Singapore, had adopted a new charity - Singapore Childrens Society - and in April we did a Charity @ ZOUK to raise funds for the needy children. We like to thank ZOUK for generously offering the venue for free and with soft beverages added to it. To this event we raised more than $7000 from the supporters. The instructors and Enrique made the participants wanting for more! No words can replace the heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors and the cash donors for extending their generosity to make the event so successful. I am in my usual self again for the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I had been meeting up and talking with my friends, Zumba friends, team mates to find out what I should do for this year. Their answers were all the same - - Lets do it for Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF). Some very hard thinking went through my mind and I thought to do a small event BUT raise the most money for BCF. However, things took a turn to do a better event this year, when I spoke to my dear friend, Zuri. She encouraged me so much to proceed with the good cause as BCF is so close to my heart since I started teaching there in May 2011. With her encouragement, I decided to revive our first Charity done for BCF in October 2011 with Lindsey Taylor at the Marina Sands Promenade. In our silence we started to source for the venue. To cut the reading short, we found our place in Suntec Convention Centre to do our Charity event - Danz Esperanza (Dance of Hope) and our monthly Fitness Extravaganza to bring the Zumba community together. To all my Friends in FB and the Zumba community at large ---- Zuri, my Local Focal Team and I ---- open our arms to welcome you to Support this years Charity for BCF. Lets tear down the wall and work together to raise the most funds with the least expenses and make this year a record breaking one for Charity. Anyone who wants to help, please PM Zuri or me or any Local Focal Instructors; we will be most glad to have you with us. We need people to mend every aspect of the event. Practicing instructors, get your own team together and lead the crowd in this exhilarating event of the year. There is no barrier this year except that you have practice on you own. More details will be put in place upon your confirmation. However, you will also understand that there are limited slots to fill and cannot obviously take on everyone in this two hour Zumba Fitness. Henceforth, your early confirmation will be much appreciated. I want to do something different this year and with my own management. With all your help we can create a Zumba Community that Singapore can proudly stand up to. ____-------------------------------------------------__________------------------------_________ On a different note, I am proud I can still Zumba at my age. As I am still moving well, I want to create a platform for the younger ZINs to be able to experience the big scene through my monthly Fitness Extravaganza. August 16th is the first of many such events and I am glad to have with me Zuri, Mike Yoong from Z LocoSiete and Li Na from Local Focal to kick off this first event. After this you will continue to see your favourite instructors being featured together with some younger ZINs in the next event. So look out for our posters coming out FB soon!
