Hi All, Some of you have begun to ask about the statistics assignment, so I thought I would update you on a few points: - There are datasets available for all three of the practicals (of which you will choose one to write up). The dataset for Practical 1 (Mach/EI) is up to date and complete. Practical 2 (Emp/Sys) and Practical 3 (working memory) are avaiable for you to see the variables etc, but these obviously do not contain this years data. These will be updated before the session on 10/11 in which we will hold workshops for each dataset (see below). - On 10/11 we will back over in the Ellen Wilkinson building computer labs, and Alex, Rob and Michael will hold seperate workshops in three different rooms - the first half of each session will consider common issues of data screening/analysis, and the second half will be devoted to specific analyses related to each of the three datasets. We will be back together in Mansfield Cooper for the final week. - You should select your chosen topic through interest / understanding / enjoyment. As with all assignments, although individual tutors have taken a lead on each practical, tutorials and marking will be split between tutors. For instance, there is no gurantee that Alex will mark 100% of EI/Mach submissions. An extensive moderation exercise ensures that all tutors grade within a few marks each other - and no assignment is left with a contested mark. Any questions, please let us know. Michael, Alex, Rob
