A little of the background on Manderston My goal at Manderston is to have a fun place where families can bring their dogs to learn to be good citizens. Should anyone wish to go to competition we will coach them to compete. I believe that you need to know who your trainer is so below a Little about me. Me, myself and I. I have always been a lover of dogs. But I only got into dog training seriously in 1987 when I got my first German Shepherd, Major. He was so naughty at school that I was removed from my class and relegated to a remedial class. Needless to say, I decided to become the best I could to assist other people in my predicament. I have done many courses on dog training and have read many, many books. I am an animal behaviourist and have completed courses in Animal Assisted Therapy. I run a therapy dog program in Life New Kensington Clinic, where we rehabilitate humans who have had strokes or car accidents and many other problems. I have been rescuing and rehabilitating dogs since 1990. I have trained my own dogs for Obedience, IPO, classic working trials and breed. I Judge Obedience and Classis working trials. I breed German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers and have bred Great Danes. I started a dog training school in Natal in 1995 called “The Dog School”. Unfortunately and with a heavy heart I had to leave it all behind when I relocated to Gauteng in 1998. Under huge pressure from friends and family, I opened Manderston Canine Academy in 2007. We started with one class on a Saturday afternoon and have grown to what we are now. At the moment we run 12 classes, starting with tiny puppies from 8 weeks to our oldest dog Troy who is now 8. Enjoy your week and we look forward to having you with us on Saturday.
