Hi All, a few days ago my beloved shihtzu Gizmo was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma and a massive growth on his spleen. All the signs were there... In the past few months hes been so lethargic, stopped jumping up to greet us, and often refuses to eat dog food (which we thought was him being picky because if it wasnt bacon)... But we had no idea. Ive never even heard of this disease and feel so guilty for not getting him a sonagram or mri earlier :( Ive had him since he was 3 months old and in april he turned 14. I found this group through a google search and was just wondering if anyone could tell me what I can expect...Today hes having a splenectomy and then spending a few days in ICU before I can take him back home. Does anyone have any advice for recovery - is there anything I should be doing/not doing for him. His prognosis is not looking too good 1-3 months :( i just want to make him comfortable.
