Hi Everyone. I am now back in the UK for some gigs and recording. All good news. Our first gig is at Nettlebed on Monday, then the Roses theatre Tewkesbury. Great venues with fantastic memories, venues where we think of the audience as friends. Lots more good stuff follows on from there. Before the gigs I have the weekend teaching at the masterclass I hold every year in a Cotswold village hall. Me and ten fiddle players lock ourselves away and we delve into that strange place within us that helps and hinders in equal measure. The task is to go to the pain and control it. All good fun. It all ends in tears of joy when we discover our own identity through the music. Hard, rewarding work for us all. My special guest this year for the Saturday night hoohah, is my dear friend Trevor Watts. We have played together in all sorts of situations, and always loved playing together. I am so excited about what may happen. So between Sunday and Monday, I will go from trying to help others, to helping myself. Gigspanner havent played together for a while, and I cant wait to hear Roger and Vincents first sounds. I love those first notes after a break. It always makes me smile. Its so important to play music with people that you like, love and trust. So today I will change the strings on my Fiddle ready for the work. My beautiful little Fiddle that was falling to bits, and now has been completely restored by the wonderful Padraig Odubhlaoidh, is now ready for anything. Stable and strong, and takes all that I give it. I do rip in now and then so the instrument has to be all things. Padraig took pictures of the operation, and hopefully today sometime, I will load them up onto the gallery on my website. As soon as its there, I will send the link. I will also publish the link to Padraigs site. Anything to do with repairs to your instruments then he should be your first port of call. Thanks Padraig. Well. Thats it from me.
