Hi Everyone, I will be leaving Corvallis soon and am looking for - TopicsExpress

Hi Everyone, I will be leaving Corvallis soon and am looking for moving boxes and packing materials. I guess a little bit of background is in order here. I am seeking a medical leave of absence from my master’s degree studies at OSU and leaving Corvallis for two reasons: 1. My eyesight has been severely taxed as a result of my studies. Reading 2-3 books a week, and scores of journal articles – most of which are available only in electronic format – has been very hard on the eyes; I’ve been legally blind since the age of 12, am diabetic, and now, at the age of 56, have terminal presbyopia. Disability Access Services at OSU has been supportive, but has limited resources to provide for the partially sighted. 2. My father, with whom I was recently reunited after a 50-year separation, is battling acute emphysema in Florida. After only two short visits, I would hate to lose him without having had a chance to get to know him better. Being between jobs, and unable to complete my studies at present, I’m contemplating a temporary move to Florida to spend a couple of months with my father, (hopefully not his last) perhaps compiling an oral history of his very interesting life while we were separated. To do so, I’ll need to pack up my apartment and put it in storage by October 9th. I have empathetic friends in both Portland and Miami who are willing to house me for a while as I contemplate my life moving forward and spend time with my dad. I need some help in dealing with these circumstances: 1. I have a 2-bedroom apartment full of furniture that I can’t afford to store and will therefore have bookcases, cabinets, dining room furniture, tables, double bed and hundreds of books to sell or give away. You will need to be able to provide your own transportation. 2. I have two beautiful, loving, well-behaved, 6-year-old, male, neutered Persian-mix longhaired cats for which I am seeking a temporary home while I look for a place to live in either Portland or Florida that accepts pets. They are brothers, their shots are up to date, they’re “chipped,” and have their claws. I can provide food and equipment, including litter, so the person caring for them won’t bear any expenses as a result of their act of loving-kindness. I am not interested in giving Squiggle and Doodle away permanently, although I can’t say how long this arrangement will need to last. I’ll do my best to make their visit a short one. If you are interested in any of the household items, know of someone trustworthy to whom I might temporarily entrust Squiggle and Doodle, or have boxes or other moving materials to share, please message me through Facebook mail. Thanks for a great eight years in one of the nicest communities I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a part. Hugs, Steven
