Hi Everyone, Thank you for the birthday wishes! Your good wishes mean a lot to me. I am so blessed in my friends. I thought about many of you on my delicious birthday hike with my sister on the Hidden Canyon Trail in Zion National Park. See photo I just returned last night from the birthday trip to Utah with my East Coast family. We stayed in Virgin Utah in a big house surrounded by sandstone cliffs and went hiking in Bryce and Zion National Parks. No cell coverage or internet for 10 days! On my way back to San Diego I spent a couple of days in 29 Palms for a meeting. The Mojave and Great Basin deserts are astoundingly verdant. One of my favorite late fall flowers, Cinchweed (Pectis papposa) was covering areas with its brilliant yellow blossoms. I have never seen these parts of the southwest desert so gloriously green: the late summer monsoonal rains made it all the way up to southwestern Utah.
