Hi Everyone!! Tonight is the night!! I am SOOOOOOO excited! I have two favors to ask you, and two things to tell you, if you are coming to the opening: 1) PLEASE (re)INTRODUCE yourself - even if you think I should know who you are. I am embarrassed at how bad I am with names, and I have REALLY bad facial recognition (esp if it involves people Ive only met once or twice, or only know on FB). Its nothing personal - I just need help! and 2) The DISCUSSION/PANEL will be among US - the Gallery Tally constituents - as a way to explain to the public what we did and thought about while we were doing it. If you are planning to come to the opening, and would like to chime in with a thought or two, well be starting that at 6:30. I will introduce the project, and would like to offer a few questions for everyone to address or possibly answer (why were you interested in being a part of this project? What do you say to people who say things like Art is not gendered or I dont think about gender when looking at art for the gallery - I just look at whats good or I am opposed to quotas - I dont want to pick up an artist just because she is female. Id also love to discuss your thoughts on WHY the art world remains so imbalanced. We are going to have another public panel later in April. :) Cant wait to see you tonight! 3)NAMETAGS: Ethan Young and I made name tags for the artist participants (with mini posters - so people know which one you did!) - please come find me, or one of the FYA staff members, to get your name tag upon arrival! :D (well, I think we have labels for nearly everyone - there may be a few oversights - Im trying to catch those now). and 4. YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT: Safi Alia Shabaik will be continuing her Gallery Tally contributors photographic portrait project - and shell be taking photos on site - please find her, too, and have your portrait taken, if you havent already! xoxoxoxoxo THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR BEING AN IMPORTANT PART OF THIS!
