Hi Everyone....last Thursday was a Captains meeting and the tournament draw was done....Present were 13 of the 14 teams.... Captains and our new Umpire Doug from SPO were present. Ray will have the schedule drafted up shortly (thank you Ray) ...we are currently down sadly one team.... the Mighty Minions which will give The Fockers the bye for the 8:00 am game....we will not know if others will be out of the tournament until all Captains hand in their books this Sunday in my mailbox for Brent to pick up....All Captains who attended the meeting here last Thursday received a separate scoring sheet which will also be handed in AFTER the September 7th game....if this sheet is not handed in NO ONE from that team will receive credit for this game...and possibly could be disqualified from the tournament if this game would count for the 6 qualifiying games that the girls need and the 8 games that the guys need...IF this is the case then the schedule will unfortuneatly need to be revised yet again. The master sheet of wins/lose will be posted at Rick Hansen during the tournament... it will be the home teams game to record this there...if you are playing back to back....PLEASE ask the team you are playing to recored this so EVERYONE is up to date.....this is a rain or shine event...in the case of thunder and lightening all games will be post poned and I still advise that your have your teams show up in case it passed over.... sadly everyone will be notified via this face book site and emails sent to Captains via the woaspl@outlook email. ANY discrepanies in the event of disqualification you be directed to Brent...he is in charge of books....Everyone is asked to be at their games at least 45 minutes in advance as the tournament is on a time schedule and there is a 10 run mercy rule AFTER the 5th inning...this is currently enforced during regual season play. As well I would like to remind everyone that ALL jewlery must be removed for tournament...if you cant remove it cover it up with tape or a bandaid...Umps will be calling this as well...this is not something we enforce during regular season but is an SPO rule that we govern during tournament. There is also a 3 limit `courtesy runner rule` that was discussed at our meeting....ALL courtesy runners ``must`` let the umpires know when they go up to bat that they will be taking a courtsey runner at first...you pass first...you are on your own. The Umps are on a zero tolerance rule....there is NO arguing with them..their call is their call...you will be removed from play if your argue with them about their call...they have received the WOASPL rules and they are MORE than aware of the SPO rules...there will be 2 umps at the finals at Rick Hansen Public School...I encourage ALL to come out and watch the finals as well as hopefully a ``fun`` game after the final games....please be prepared that depending on the win/lose there coud be back to back games to determine the final teams who play last for the first place spot.... the banquest is on the 20th of September the following weekend AFTER tournament and your teams have all prepaid 10 tickets.... ALL Captains have received their team `duties`for the tournament, please check with your Captain to find out what is required from your team....I am out of town on and off for the next few weeks with limited access to email and texting...I will respond when I can...I try to respond withing 24 hours of your texts or emails but unfortuneatly this will not be the case until after the September long weekend. I wish EVERTYONE good luck during tournament and I wish to remind you all regardlress of the outcome we are ALL here for fun and we all need to get up Monday morning and work....with that said GOOD LUCK to ALL of the teams from W.OA.S.PL. in regular season and the finals.
