Hi Family. Well it seems the Lord really wants to orientate us to His 21st century miraculous. I just cant get off the subject of the dunamite. After prayer He challenged me to identify miracles that have nothing to do with health. Heres what I mean. Traditionally, when we say God moved, we mean He made people feel good in a church service, the particular venue notwithstanding. When we credit Him with performing a miracle, it is typically health related. Someone received a physical healing or deliverance. The drawback with such narrow views of Gods miraculous is that healthy and well people have little reason to seek Him for their crises. In fact, the subtle message conveyed is, seek the Lord Jesus for medical crises. For all other obstacles go elsewhere. People under this auspices feel compelled to turn to other higher powers for help because Jesus only deals out medical miracles. At least thats how it comes across. The question then is, outside of physical healing, could you recognize a Jesus miracle? If so, how would you? In fact, what do you call a miracle and when would you say the dunamite is needed? For the record the dunamite is for the most impossible issues Gods people face. The everyday ones are well served by the prayer of faith. The Lord uses these miracle agents only when undefeatable odds are stacked against His family or household. Although health is the most common threat, it is only a fraction of what God uses them to perform. Scriptures dunamite examples are Samsons strength, Elijah and Elishas phenomenas, Davids incomparable warrior prowess and many others. Even Deborah whom many only regard as a prophet, although she was as much a judge as Samuel was. In her office Deborah judged and warred, and called her nation to war. These all suggest there is a lot more to her story. Also, the way her friend Jael finished the battle indicates both women were warriors, and mighty ones at that. And then there is the Lord Jesus. While our Saviors miracles might be readily dismissed as to be expected from the Son of God, those of His apostles and later His church cannot be so easily brushed aside. The power God wielded through them is more than remarkable. Pauls special miracles are of this sort. Acts 19:11 says God wrought unusual miracles by him. Clearly, he performed more than physical healings. The same man in realizing what God did through him was exclusive identified the miracle worker as a distinct class of ministers in 1 Corinthians 13:29. He pictures them as unique in light of the whole church being endued with the power to lay hands on the sick. So what did God do through Paul that classified his miraculous acts as special? Condensing all explanations into a single definition of his miracles characterizes them as an exclusive species of proprierary feats.
