Hi Folks. I want to give you an update on our progress today. The residents at Carter Place enjoyed a full day with power in their suites. Food that has been spoiled in their fridges is being thrown out. The stores are gradually opening and today will the last day that we will provide a hot meal. Everyone has had an opportunity to get fresh supplies and get back to a more normal routine. We continue with the cleaning of the mechanical equipment at MM, ED, and KT to assess the damage. Progress is being made on removing all items and dryers are moving the damp air out of the basements. Our next big push is to move as many as possible to accommodations that will serve as temporary homes for the next 4-6 weeks. A critical piece is transportation and CEMA is working at putting a fleet of accessible buses together so that on Friday we can commence with these moves. A big thank you for all the offers of support. I was biking home and had to pull off the road to take a call. It was an offer of 20 more beds. Awesome! This is what makes Calgary great. Unfortunately, we have also seen the cumulative effects of stress and we are having to give our staff relief. We are receiving offers of volunteers every day and it could not come at a better time. The power at Carter Place has been invaluable. It solves the main issue for residents at Carter Place (160 people) and it allows us to return to normal business operations. So, it has been a good if busy day. We hope things fall into place for a big push on Friday to move tenants out of Shelter spaces and into a setting where they can stay for 4-6 weeks. Thank you for your continued support. Staff and tenants appreciate this very much.
