Hi Folks, who has been homeless in Toronto and wants to provide - TopicsExpress

Hi Folks, who has been homeless in Toronto and wants to provide feedback to the city about how they can improve the system serving homeless and street-involved people? Now is your chance. Check out this project description and let me know if you want to participate. Help create a better network of housing support services for our most vulnerable Toronto has an unprecedented opportunity to re-tool the way we deliver services to help vulnerable residents find and keep permanent housing. This is because changes are underway in how the province funds the City to provide housing and homelessness services. This opens the way to a transform of City services into a true system, a chance to implement local housing-first solutions to address local housing and homelessness issues. At the same time, the federal government is preparing to renew the Homelessness Partnering Strategy and this will require a new community plan for service. You talk. We listen We need your ideas on how best to fashion an integrated, client-focused system of services that results in sustainable tenancies for low-income residents. Your input will help the City develop a Housing Stability Services Plan to direct the planning, management and delivery of housing services in Toronto over five years. We want to move from a series of services grounded in emergency responses to homelessness, to one that is an integrated housing stability service system with clear goals and performance measures. Consultations started in June with members of the public, service providers, and special interest groups to seek input on: What is important to helping people stay in their homes? Which services are critical? How could the system be more effective in wrapping services around clients and their needs? What gaps exist that leave people vulnerable to losing their homes? What new ways can we explore to ensure tenure of residency? How can we make it easier for people to get into subsidized housing? Are more housing allowances the answer? If so, where does the money come from?
