Things you will learn in a session: ◾How to properly warm up the body AND the voice. ◾Preparation, relaxation and warm-up techniques for auditions and performance. ◾The true meaning of projection and how to last through the run of a show, a voice-over session, or a radio broadcast gig. ◾Learn to use your whole, true voice. Develop your sound. ◾Accent removal ◾Diction in: French, German, Italian, Latin (Russian, Czech and Spanish: also available for singing) ◾Role preparation. ◾Competition preparation. ◾College entrance preparation. ◾Staging. Bodywork and Voice class: Knowing how to warm up your body and your voice is imperative. Everyone that uses their voice professionally should have at least ONE voice lesson. The difference you will see in your work and in your auditions is mind blowing! Understand your instrument better using the Feldenkrais method as well as vocal warm-ups taught by Master Vocal Coach Evelyn Edwards...Each session focuses on a particular area of the body aimed at teaching how to release tension, show your brain different pathways to learn, and have a greater openess and awareness that carries into your art and your life. The Feldenkrais Method focuses on the relationship between movement and thought; increased mental awareness and creativity accompany physical improvements. I was first introduced to Feledenkrais as a therapy for my voice in New York...I had no idea what far reaching effects it would have on my life, my art, and my learning Sara Evelyn Edwards is a truly well rounded artist. She can be seen in the Academy award winning fim HER directed by Spink Jonze, the RIDLEY SCOTT ASSOCIATES FILM LOOM opposite Giovanni Ribisi, the Television shows CRIMINAL MINDS, THE MENTALIST, MARRY ME, THE THUNDERMANS, CASTLE, the feature film A Numbers Game opposite Steven Bauer (Scarface), starred in the 1950’s period film RED, OUTSOURCED, 21 episodes of the Japanese series THE SCARY CITY, as well the award winning series MAD MEN. Evelyn began her career in opera: she was a member of the Los Angeles Opera for 2 seasons performing in 9 operas. She has performed with some of the opera industry’s leading conductors and singers including: Placido Domingo, Valery Gergiev, Kent Nagano, Eva Marton, Vladimir Chernov, Goesta Winburg, and others. Ms. Edwards had the privilege of working with such famed directors as Oscar winner Maximilian Schell in his directorial debut, Julie Taymor in her operatic directorial debut, Gian-Carlo Del Monaco, and Lotfi Mansuri during her tenure with Los Angeles Opera. Equally comfortable performing jazz as performing classical music, she also sang at the Polo Towers in Las Vegas with Jazz and R&B band leader Tex Richardson. She made her professional singing debut at the age of 13, operatic debut at 19. Ms. Edwards has also done a wide range of voice-over work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Music degree from UCLA and a Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes College of Music- one of the nation’s top three music conservatories.
