Hi Guys, Frankies Mom here. I want to thank you for your votes this week and explain why this contest was important. Alabama Spay/Neuter has fixed close to 70,000 Alabama animals since their inception in 2008, Animals that probably wouldnt have been spayed or neutered otherwise because of the high cost at a Vets office. This was to be a fun little contest to bring awareness to the clinics in Alabama and the services they provide. Another reason I wanted to do it was to help Have A Heart Animal Rescue and Adoption because they are the rescue, the only rescue, that stepped up to save Frankie. You wouldnt know much about them, their president, Allison Cheatwood, doesnt shout from the rooftops every time she saves an animal. She works quietly and endlessly and saves all she can, relying on fosters and donations to help, mostly using her own money to make ends meet. Last week, she lost her job of 12 years, which will make what she does even more difficult. The contest came with a small monetary prize that will help, but mainly, I wanted to give her the publicity for her rescue in the hopes that it would drum up more donations, fosters, even shares for the animals she saves. That being said, by entering this contest, I seem to have opened up the doors for mean people to say awful things about Frankie. To the point of 1 woman (I know who you are D) who took the time to make a fake facebook page to say ugly things about Frankie on the contest page and to each of the contestants (1 of them being her own entry). Another woman, Lynda, said I was shortening his life by letting him get so fat, without even bothering to read his story. As most of you know, the picture that I submitted was from 2 years ago, our 1st Christmas with Frankie. I love that picture, because it shows that in just a matter of weeks, Frankie was so loved and so comfortable here that I could put a Santa hat on him and hold him like a baby and he just relaxed and enjoyed it. I would have never subjected us to the kind of negative, hateful comments that came as a result of a happy picture....it would have been much easier to make a donation to HAH. I was extremely shocked and dismayed at the behavior of some people. I thank those of you who have stuck with us and loved Frankie as we have. I am thinking of taking Frankies page down now.
