Hi, I am not a CHC member. I wish to share how CHC broke my family apart. My brother was a die hard loyalist to the church. He tithed even though he was broke and had no savings. He tithed even though he didnt have enough money to give my parents. At that time I couldnt understand what religion would teach their followers to ignore their parents needs, parents who gave birth to them, raise them with unconditional love and give all to the church. Although I am not an expert in Christianity I do know that there is no compulsion to give. The living basic needs must be attended to above everything else. Any religion that teaches otherwise is suspicious, in my own humble opinion. So for years my brother did not give a single cent to my poor parents and instead he gave to the church. We couldnt understand and quarreled many times over this. In the end, the battle scars were too many too deep to reconcile. As a result my brother literally disowned himself from the family citing that we only care about money. Isnt it ironic that money is the main issue that now threatened the existence of this church? I dont bear any hatred towards the church or the people involved. It takes two hands to clap. They spun a yarn, sold the followers a dream, a hope and a vision. Obviously these appealed to some followers and my brother happened to be one of them. At the end of the day, there are always fishes that fall for the baits. Just unfortunate my family became collateral damage because of the church. For those of you whose family were broken becos of the church, like mine, we can only hope that the truth from the court proceedings will start the path towards healing and reconciliation. And bring the family back as a whole again. Too much have been sacrificed to benefit a few parties. Lets not continue to pay the price for earlier follies. Money lost can be earned back. But a family member lost cannot be earned back.
