Hi! Im a white male, almost middle aged, and living in Canada (born near here). Im about to go out today, the same day that something akin to a terror attack has happened in the other end of the country. Not much else is known about what happened in Ottawa, but Im headed to a public location in a large city. I have a full, unkempt beard. I do not expect to be verbally or physically assaulted, nor targetted with hatred or fear by a random stranger. I expect that today, rather than worrying about being spat at or otherwise denigrated for my appearance and their stupidity, people who see me will think nothing of it whatever and I will move around in peace. White privilege in action within my shoes, in other words.
