Hi, Im new to this group. My Grandmother started smoking when she was 7 years old and died at 87. Her death was from a non smoking related disease. Her son (my Dad) probably started a bit later, but hes still puffing away at 96 and a half. Sadly, he lives in a care home and has to go outside for a smoke. Theyve made a special exception for the 2 smokers living in the home; theres one small area outside where they can smoke. Strictly speaking, theyre not allowed to smoke on the premises at all. Hes supposed to go out and stand in the road (there is no pavement) and he has extremely limited mobility, as most people of 96 do. Sometimes he goes for a whole week without a smoke and it breaks his heart. It is his only real pleasure in life, apart from having pets; another thing denied him in his last few years on this earth. Here he is on Christmas Day, doing what he loves best; just look at the look of sheer pleasure on his face :)
