Hi! My name is Elsie and Im an 8 month old Pit Bull/Pointer mix! I am a very pretty, very sweet little girl who was found by a nice police officer and brought to Almost Home. I was stuck in a snow bank and couldnt get out; nobody knew I was there because I blended in so well with the snow! The nice officer took me to the vet because I had big, open sores all over my legs and face, and I was limping pretty bad. I was also very, very skinny (I only weighed 24 pounds) and you could see all of my bones. I had on a pretty pink collar, but it was way, way too big on me and could slip right off over my head. I probably fit into that collar at some point. My teeth are actually pretty yellow for a pup my age too; I never had good food and had to eat whatever I could find just to stay alive. The vet said my wounds were really infected and put me on some medicine to help me feel better. Then, I was brought to Almost Home and given some food, a pretty new collar, and a nice warm bed. One of the staff members took me home with her and gave me a nice bath. She said that I behaved so well, I can stay with her until I find my new home! That makes me very happy! I am starting to feel more like a puppy now and am really enjoying myself in my foster home! I love to lay on soft blankets and will snuggle up on the couch if Im given the chance! I love my crate and will sometimes go in there all by myself when I want to take a nap. I have learned how to sit when asked and am working on learning to wait; I will learn new things really fast because I am very attentive and understand voices very well! I get along just fine with the kitties and the other dog in my foster home, though I dont really understand how to play and can get a little bit defensive if I feel threatened. I walk well on a leash and am working on my house training! I am not a fan of the cold and will avoid walking on snow or ice whenever possible; you cant blame me, right!? I am a very calm puppy, but I do get really excited around new people and will wag my tail really, really hard! I dont understand what toys are yet, but I have started chasing things that are thrown for me, and I really, really like the laser pointer that the kitties play with! I do get over-excited when theres food around and I am still learning that Im not supposed to steal food off of the table. Even though I am always looking for my next meal, I am not aggressive at all and dont mind people or other animals touching my bowl while Im eating. I rarely bark and do fine if left home alone for a while, but Id much rather just be with you! I love to snuggle and will lay as close to you as I can. I also really, really enjoy belly rubs and love to give nice, warm puppy kisses! I ride nicely in the car and will curl up on the seat next to you while you drive. I am probably not going to be a large dog when I grow up and will be the perfect size for just about any environment! I will thrive in any home, so long as I have a family that loves me! I will need some supervision around other animals until I am settled in, but I transition easily and will quickly make myself at home!
