Hi. My name is Jimmy Zink. I am a seventh grader. I have lived in Bentonville since I started kindergarten. Before that I lived in Belgium and Tennessee. I live with my mom, dad, younger brother, and younger sister. I want to do this because I’m already interested in science and technology! I want to make my own games so I can play games that are like games we already know but different in their own ways. My family and I have built things together in the past, like, a robot that can draw another one that lights up the night, and a hovercraft made out of a leaf blower. I’ve always done well in school, mostly in math, one of the main reasons I’d like to do this is it would be nice to know what I can do in the future. Every year for Christmas I always get something electronic, it could be snap circuits or a robotic build it yourself beetle. It’s not just the “building” part I want to do, I also want the “fixing” part, and I know that in order to fix things, I need to understand how they work, building on this statement, I want to help people with their broken stuff. There have been a lot of things I have wanted to do, first, even though I may not know why, a police man, not long ago, I wanted to be a veterinarian, but now, I want to be a game designer. I want to be this because I want to show my friends and family what I’m capable of. I don’t want to make little things, the things I want to make are big and helpful, like a calculator you can talk to and tell what order it needs to do things in, or a solar powered car, that doesn’t need dumb old fuel, I want to make things that save time, money, and resources. I want to make the world better, less wasted because of all the trash we throw away, like used paper for example, me and my mom made new paper out of old paper. I never thought I would have been nominated for this program, not when there so many other people you could have chosen. But now that I know what it is I would be honored to get into it. When I leave this world, I’ll want to have helped it first. There is nothing I want to do other than this, because this will help with the things I want to do after this. I’m always thinking about my life in the future, and I know this STEM program will help me. I don’t know what I will end up being in my future, but at least I can get an idea of what some choices could be like. Thank you for your consideration, Jimmy Zink
