Hi! My name is Michael McCann. Ill be helping out and adding content to this page. About Me: Im an E-5 in the Air Force and Ive been in for the past 10 years. I work as a 4A071, Health Service Management Craftsman. Ive been stationed in England, South Dakota, and Virginia and have been at my present duty location for the past 7 years. The rank of Technical Sergeant has been eluding me these past few years, but I hope to make it this go around. I am married to my wonderful wife and have 3 fairly awesome kids. When I Came Out: During the first few years of my childhood in a predominately black baptist church and went to a Catholic school until the 4th grade. My parent divorced when I was 8 and didnt attend church services for the remainder of my childhood. We did partake in the typical cultural Christian holidays of Christmas and Easter, but our observances were based more on the Charles Dickens vision of Christmas and Polish traditions (Dyngus Day anyone?). Once I joined the military I tried to search for some sort of faith, but couldnt bring myself to have blind faith. I realized the faith that I had known is really just a product of my upbringing and have come to identify myself as an agnostic-atheist. Why I joined this page: Ive found that the non-religious or irreligious are under represented within the military and its important we have a forum we can discuss amongst ourselves. I hope to bring interesting discussions about different issues that face atheists in and out of the military. Id like to help this page to be a meeting place on issues affecting ourselves, our co-workers, and our friends.
